[ Intro: The Moon, The Sun, and The Star. ] Childhood Friends AU because i have too much style. the last pic is when they are in junior high or something, bruh who broke Maka’s heart?!
.
one time i was bored and rakugakied baby ver. of these trios + crona (where you can still see it on twt but,) it was so wonky until then i developed these, the okayer ones lol. i have some mini comics of em with brother asura, crona, and soul + wes drafts already. not sure when to post. weeee
But I also want to see those stories be central. I want to see them be the actual arc of the show. And having the opportunity to do that with Catra and Adora, in a way that spans all five seasons, it was risky. Sure. But this is what we’re going to do. We just have to go for it and have it be something that’s so central and important to the plot and the characters. [The show] really doesn’t work without it. Getting it to the point where it felt realistic and it felt fulfilling and satisfying and earned, it was something we really worked hard on. It’s really great to see the initial reaction to it. I wanted this to be what the show was about because I think this [relationship] really is what the show is about. — Noelle Stevenson (insp.)
i know we’re all talking about blake’s reaction but can we talk about how much this is gonna fuck up ruby??
yang essentially gave her life to save ruby. she saw neo coming towards her and knew exactly what she wanted and ruby knows that if yang hadn’t jumped in between them, that would’ve been ruby falling off of the platform, not yang.
yang sacrificed herself for her sister. and that’s gonna fucking destroy ruby, who’s already at her breaking point. and this is gonna drive her over the edge.
It’s far from the most important thing this episode, but seeing Team FNKI on the frontlines gave me Some Emotions.
Because… they’re not team RWBY. They haven’t had months of practical experience that forced them to quickly adapt. Save for the Fall of Beacon (from which their whole team made it through unscathed), they’ve never been part of the war on Salem. They’re normal students.
And sure, maybe they personally volunteered to fight, or maybe the only reason we don’t see other students is because of lack of time to design additional models when they could just use more faceless soldiers instead.
But like… CRWBY went to the trouble of making them new character models in the Atlesian Military Uniform. They’re not even fighting in their Huntsman outfits, which are easily the most expressive and personalized designs we’ve seen native Atlesians wear.
It feels so incredibly wrong to have these kids, who can’t possibly have graduated yet and don’t know anything about what kind of war they’re fighting, be on the front lines. James criticized Ozpin for letting his students (especially team RWBY) have so much responsibility in the war efforts. But when push came to shove he did the exact same. And everyone else in the military is fine with that, is fine with having unlicensed Huntsman fighting right alongside the most elite military operatives.
